Hi, I’m Mona.
Born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, I’m ethnically from Pakistan and also have Yemeni heritage. I am the wife of a war veteran and a mother to 3 amazing girls, with a degree in Visual Communication. I moved to Canada from the UAE in 2017, smack dab in January from 22 C to -33C!
Professionally, I work as a producer for on the best branding agencies in Saskatoon, if not Canada. Personally, I want to meet as many people over the age of 70 and photograph them!
My Why…
My passion for honoring elders through photography comes from a very personal loss. I had only ever met one of my four grandparents. My earliest memory of my other grandparents were just black and white photographs in old albums and some mementos that my parents had. I only had stories passed down but they were my connection to my elders.
As I witness the slow passing of an entire generation before my eyes, I feel an urgency in me. An urgency for preservation, to capture moments the lives, stories and experiences of the elders in our families.
